Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Exceptional dryer!

molynn2020 11/23/2019

This is an AMAZING dryer. Probably the best I've ever used. My husband & I live in a mobile home so our main reason for purchase is the fact it is VENTLESS & it's compact. The dryer is so quiet. You can hardly hear it with a tv going. It doesn't take any more time to dry than another modern dryer. The end result are damp clothes, however there is enough steam and heat left in the bin at the end of the cycle to where if you fluff the clothes they'll be dry in a matter of seconds. The dryer acts as a dehumidifier by capturing moisture from the air it uses. All the features are up to date and easy to figure out. It's worked extremely well since we've had it and I'm happy to say we LOVE IT!

Pre-drying clothes on clothes rack sucks

Madee223 11/18/2019

I've always had Whirlpool washers and dryers, and was very excited to find that they had a ventless dryer on the marker. Now, 7 months later I could not be more unhappy with a Whirlpool product if I tried. I have to "pre-dry" my clothes on drying racks before putting them into the dryer to have any hope of them ever getting anywhere near dry. I've cleaned the bottom filter after every 4-5 loads (as suggested), empty the water after every load, and empty the lint catcher after every load. EVEN with doing ALL that it now has a smell that is awful, and it transfers to our clothing if I put it into the dryer!! It's also quite loud, and can be heard not only all over our upstairs, but downstairs as well. If I could take this back to the store today...I would in an instant! However, since the dryer technically works I'm pretty sure Whirlpool will do nothing about it so I'm stuck with it. I'll be sure to spread the word though so that maybe I can spare someone else the hassle and heartache of buying this product.

Very poor design

Gramsmary 10/27/2019

I bought this washer & dryer combination and it is a pain to use. The computerized features are very annoying & the clock is unreliable. I wish I'd known you have to empty a tray that collects water during drying after each load. It is high up on left side. For an 80 yr old it is a bad design. Not only that there is are two lint collectors: one in the dryer and another foam pad for the heat pump. They both do the job but not user friendly! I would recommend the Bosch system where the water is drained to the same pipe as the washer uses. Sure wish I had my old Maytag stackable they were much better.

Does NOT dry clothes

Gini Rose 9/14/2019

I just wanted to comment that if giving 0 stars was an option, that would be my rating. The clothes are constantly left damp, even after drying for 2-3 hours. I have tried all the settings, I've read the instruction guide, changed the water conductivity, to no avail. I understand that the point of this machine is to save energy, however running one load for several hours does absolutely nothing. Awful product I wouldn't recommend.

Horrible! Not what you expect from Whirlpool

Sheryl156 9/14/2019

This dryer takes 6 HOURS to dry towels and Whirlpool will not do anything about it. They said it's within the standard guidelines for ventless dryers. This is the worst appliance I ever purchased. Don't buy!

No power -- only used 2 months

LaurieKelly 8/17/2019

We only installed this 2 months ago and it won't start. We suspect it needed cleaning in the BACK near the cooling fan as we saw a video stating that should be done once per month. Why weren't we told this and why should we have to go BEHIND a dryer to clean it out? Sure you could have put that vent at the front or side for easy cleaning? Based upon all of the troubleshooting we have already done ..it is def the dryer itself. We may have to replace the fuse that likely overheated when the cooling fan went off? ....or bcuz we didn't clean the dryer behind it? If that's not it, it is something else with this dryer. We JUST installed it so should not be having these problems. Very sad about this as we were very excited about this dryer.

suzie222 7/16/2019

I agree with the 2.5 stars. No one told me that there is a place that fills up with water that needs to be emptied. I came home to find water leaking through to my bedroom ceiling because the water overflowed. There should be major warning labels on this!

So much Easier to use than Old Ventless Dryer

Mountain laurel 4/22/2019

I had a condensation dryer for about 12 years. The biggest issue was getting all the water out of the inside of it. All the crevices, nooks, crannies. I had to clean and clean it monthly. Plus the accumulated stale water would smell. Difficult to reach all the areas. Did not like it. Would prefer a vented dryer but the condo where I live does not allow them, so ventless is all we can have. I love the fact that all the moisture/water collects in the tank on the top if this heat pump dryer. I can easily remove it and dump it in the sink. So much easier and handier. I am still getting used to the best way to dry certain types of fabrics. It doesn't get as hot which can be confusing at first. Takes a while to get used to the heat pump process. The longer I have it, the happier I am with it. I plan to contact customer service with my questions and get some suggestions how to use this dryer better and more efficiently. I think the instruction manual could be more detailed and in bigger print.

Worst dryer ever and Whirlpool doesn't care

mia's mom 4/8/2019

We've now had the same issue two times with this piece of junk. F1 error on dryer less than two years old. Whirlpool says there's nothing they can do. Repair place said it's prohibitively expensive to fix. So there's $800+ down the drain. I will never purchase another Whirlpool product!

Promising, but needs some improvement

terrythedog 4/5/2019

I have had this unit about 4 months now. I have a family of 5 and it can keep up with our laundry needs just fine. The issue I am seeing is that the foam filter in the bottom of the dryer is not designed well. It is now falling off of the support allowing lint to clog the machine. This is a poor design and whirlpool should fix this issue. Other than that, this machine works well.

Didn't last two years

herin8 2/28/2019

I really loved this dryer at first. It is small enough to fit stacked in my short basement and didn't need an extra vent to the outside. While it didn't always completely dry towels or bedding, it would have still been a 4-star dryer for me. Unfortunately, though, about a month ago the dryer stopped working for about half the loads I put in. The drum won't turn and the machine stops. I was able to get it working again by hand-turning the drum. Now, however, it won't start at all, even if I turn the drum myself to start it. I'm very disappointed with this and I'll be avoiding Whirlpool in the future.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

BecLee 1/22/2019

I have had this dryer (and matching washer) for a little over a year. Just before Christmas the full reservoir light would come on and the dryer would not work more than three minutes, despite the reservoir being empty. I have had a tech here 6 times since to try to get it to work. Run all the diagnostics, replace the float, etc. He discovered water in the lower area with the pump, cleaned it out and checked the pump (which works). But it still was not pumping water out of the lower reservoir. Yesterday we found lint, mold and gunk in the lower reservoir so he cleaned that out, the water was pumped and we thought it was fixed. I did a load of towels, put them into the dryer. It ran close to an hour, then the full reservoir light again came on. The top one was still empty. So another call for my long suffering repairman is forthcoming. My guess is something is still plugging the pump but the real issue is ease of repair. Could you not design a machine that is easy to take apart to actually SEE THE PARTS!!!!! Another issue is the lower filter. It won't stay on the holder in the dryer, I have to put rubber bands around it or it comes off during drying with lint getting past into the works. It is coming apart on one end and the foam is disintegrating. I have ordered a new one, which is completely outrageous at a price of $41.00 US, but they are out of stock. My sister spent years in Europe, using this type of dryer and loved them. I was excited to get one but now I am very frustrated, both with the problems and the design issues that fail.

The worst

AreUkidding 1/11/2019

The salesman didn't tell me....must empty a water chamber after every load. There are two lint filters that also have to be cleaned after each load. The computerized settings are too hard to figure out. The book is no help. It is very loud. Takes twice as long to dry anything. It is 220. Expensive unit and expensive to run.

Terrible product

Laurie W1966 10/26/2018

I bought this and had it professionally installed two weeks ago. The residual drain/filter on the washerWFW5090GW now fills up and has to be drained after every wash. The dryer makes loud banging noises and takes ridiculous amount of time to dry even a small load. I have had technicians over twice to fix it and now they are coming again tomorrow to replace the entire set. I have taken time off of work and spent money at the laundromat because of this product. Someone needs to retrain the Quality control dept. Whirlpool used to be the best but not anymore.

Bad Product and Customer "Service"

1a2b 10/14/2018

This product and Whirlpool's service for it are both nightmares. This machine does not work. The electronic components go bad and show an F01 error code and few if any technicians service that part(s). My family has had this machine for one year. One broke, and whirlpool replaced it. That broke, and we have been without a dryer for the better part of a year, getting the run around from the service department. Horrible treatment and a bad product. Don't buy.

Works but reading manual is essential

Mom-808 9/29/2018

I'll cut to the chase: dryer does work but reading the manual is crucial. Most important things I learned: 1. Timed Dry uses LOW heat and is for damp (not wet) items. So we never use Timed Dry and MUST rely on the Auto Cycles like Normal, Mixed, Heavy Duty, and Bulky/Bedding. This is OPPOSITE of every other dryer I've owned. 2. Water conductivity setting likely needs to be changed so clothes dry. Default is "3". Ours needed to be at "4" for the dryer to stop when clothes were dry and not before. When we changed this setting, suddenly the dryer worked: it stopped when clothes were dry. If dryer stops with damp clothes, I suggest changing this setting. A few other things I found out that are helpful: 3) if I want HIGH heat, the only setting with HIGH heat is Heavy Duty (perhaps Bulky/Bedding too but manual is unclear). Drying wet jeans on Normal requires Extra Dry option. But jeans in Heavy Duty cycle needs only the Dry option. 4) On an Auto Cycle, the dryer periodically changes the amount of time left (it is NOT a clock/timer). Every so often it takes a moisture reading and it re-adjusts the time left. In other words, if it says 1:30 first, it may say 0:45 about 15 minutes later. and then 0:20 after another 10 minutes pass. Really, not kidding. 5) The bottom filter needs attention every 5 loads and if we pause the dryer that seems to count as a new load; if we clean the filter while the dryer is off, it doesn't know we cleaned it. Now, I clean it only when the dryer is on so it knows I've done it and I try not to pause unless necessary. And the rest all buyers will already figure know. The benefits of this dryer are the compact size, it is ventless, can stack; can be hooked up to the washer's drain, and it does dry clothes. The con of this particular ventless dryer is that reading the manual and understanding the settings are required. We hated the dryer until we read the manual. (Other cons are not really cons because we all know that heat pump dryers do take a bit longer to dry clothes and are slightly louder). Finally, for those of you in hot, humid climates like me and no AC: the dryer does kick out a LOT of heat in the back but in our house the heat stays in the closet and doesn't heat the surrounding area; it takes 8-15% longer than our old-school vented dryer with a long run which isn't bad considering the 90 degree weather with 90% humidity.

Unacceptable Performance

Disgusting 9/21/2018

I've just finished reading all the reviews and yes the washer ROCKS!!! but the heat pump dryer SUCKS!!! Like other reviews, the ACU died (seems it's also happened to everyone else who provided reviews...it's a joke) ...dryer does not DRY!!! Any electronic replacement is going to be expensive....some quoted $500/$600 which is more than 1/2 the cost of a new unit!!!!! Did not Whirlpool pool test this system prior to putting out into the market? Obviously NO!!!!! Whirlpool please don't bother cutting & pasting the same reply response you gave everyone else...it just a waste of both my time & your once loyal customers who all work hard for their $$$! UNACCEPTABLE PRODUCT, YOU BE ASHAMED OF PUTTING SUCH A LENO PRODUCT IN TBE MARKET!!!!

Good dryer for a limited space

DCskyhouse 8/28/2018

I was searching for a stackable washer and dryer that fit into a tiny little laundry closet. I chose Whirlpool over a couple of other options based on reviews and reputation. I'm happy with my choice even going from a vented to a ventless dryer have had its own learning curve. Cons are the noise level and it's upkeeping after each laundry day. Pros are that the door of dryer is reversal, it has a good selection of settings, and it does a good job!

DO NOT BUY THIS DRYER IT IS THE WORST

regretsthispurchase 8/24/2018

I just got this dryer less then 24 hours ago w/the washer I CAN'T EXPRESS ENOUGH HOW MUCH I REGRET THIS PURCHASE! 1. Difficult to use 2. takes forever to dry 3. constant maintenance for every load you do 4.You have to be a master mind to get the thing just to stay turned on. I am 56 this is one of the worst purchases I've ever made in my life I predict there will be many issues w/this machine in the future and that it will not last. I hope I helped you not to make this purchase DON'T you will have thrown your money away and you'll be crying like me :(

It doesn't deserve one star.

alext 8/24/2018

We have used this machine for two months after it was installed in our new condo. Regardless of the cycle you choose, the machine's sensor that detects whether the clothes are dry deems the cycle complete before the clothes are dry. The dryer says "END" on the display panel, but the cycle clearly hasn't ended because there is moisture dripping down the inside of the door and the clothes are wet.

second review, poor design update

carmic74 8/14/2018

This is my second review. I thought I'd check through them to see if the product is getting better reviews. I am an architect and need to specify ventless dryers for many projects. You may notice a pattern of reviews - all positive reviews are followed by 'won sweepstakes, product...' All negative reviews do not get free product :) I followed up with Whirlpool after my negative review thinking they could help since they sent such a nice response. But there is no broken part, no technical issue, it is just a matter of a very poor design. They only way I can get my clothes to dry every time is to clean out BOTH filters. The main one, but also the bottom filter. You have to clean it EVERY time. You have to wash the spongy thing every 5th time, sometimes more. But the stupid part of the design is that the lint gets trapped in the space behind this bottom filter which prevents the coil from functioning. So, you must also stand on your head and clean off this screen with your finger and compressed air to get the lint off that screen so the coil can function. I'm crossing my fingers the spongy thing never tears because they don't sell a replacement. And you also can't put it in wet, so remember to wash it and let it dry before you need your washer!! This could be a great dryer if Whirlpool took the time to listen and redesign this product and provide better customer support.

Does not dry even with extended time

LePug3 7/15/2018

This was the ONLY unit that would fit in our new construction townhouse. Even when the drying cycle is run the 2nd time, it does not dry the sheets! I have to take them somewhere else to dry. I can;t wait to replace it with a unit that works/dries, even if I have to renovate the laundry room. It was expensive so having to save up but it WILL be replaced.

We bought one of these a year ago to fit a tight space, which it did, but it broke about a month after first use. Customer service was a nightmare (described below) although we eventually received a new model. Now, that too is broken, and we are once again at a laundromat, while our shiny new dryer sits broken at home. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Re customer service: we got the run around as we had to let whirlpool technicians into our home to attempt repair. Several times we took off work just to have them not show up. When they finally came, they did not know how to fix the error code (fo1). For months, we spent precious night and weekend hours at a laundromat. And with the second broken model, here we are again.

This Machine Doesn't Dry

Adguy34 6/15/2018

I've done 5 loads of laundry in this brand new machine and it DOES NOT DRY the clothes. I was thinking something was wrong with the machine. But then I read the other reviews and see that I'm not the only one that can't get a single bed sheet dry. I love the look of this dryer and the idea that it's so small, but I can't have a dryer that doesn't dry! The washing machine works great but they both have to go back if they can't fix this dryer!

DO NOT BUY

CheebaJ 5/22/2018

we bought this compact dryer of few mouths ago and now it will not start the cycle now. had a "whirlpool " tech come out and and siad it was the the ACU and i would have to replace it for around $600 so I didn't have him fix it. started doing research had the ACU checked out it was fine. I found out the it was the IU and the part is out of stock. So now trying to remove it from the control panel but can't get the the select knobs out & no help from Whirlpool. customer service sucks.

Broken after 13 months, $500 to fix

MG95112 5/8/2018

Unlike many of the reviewers, I actually really loved this dryer's performance. It's not comparable to a full-sized vented dryer, but it's much better than most compact ventless (especially condensing) dryers. As long as you don't overload it, it would dry things well and uses a lower heat that's easier on fabrics. The problem is that it completely broke after less than a year of relatively light use (laundry for only one person). I purchased it on 3/1/17 as part of a remodel that wasn't completed until July 2017 and it broke on April 22, 2018. Unfortunately, that's just outside the warranty, so I called to have it repaired. The control board is broken -- apparently a common problem, google "F01 error Whirlpool" or read the other reviews here. The part is backordered indefinitely and will cost approximately $500 to replace. That's more than half what I originally paid for the dryer, and for possibly months until the part comes in I have no dryer. I will never buy anything by Whirlpool again.

Well pleased.

timamiller 4/13/2018

My wife and I were concerned about a few negative reviews. This was the model that fit the space under our counter; and we decided to purchase anyway. I am gald we ingnored the reviews. This dryer works great. We are very, very pleased. It also holds a larger load than we though it would and the level of dryness is perfect - this is adjustable by the way.

Broke After Three Weeks. STILL Waiting on Parts

DryingRacksEverywhere 4/12/2018

Received delivery from Home Depot on 3/10. Broke on 3/21! Three weeks on a $900+ dryer? Really, Whirlpool?! How is this acceptable? Certified Whirlpool appliance tech diagnosed/ordered new ACU (aka control board/brain) on Monday April 2nd. Date for part continuously changing, because, THERE ARE NO PARTS. They're all backordered. (Before you buy, plug in the model number yourself on the parts page and you'll see why you should be concerned.) I can't understand how you can offer a full warranty, when there are no parts to fulfill said warranty. I would appreciate speaking to someone to begin the process of a full refund.

Two Hours and ONE bed sheet is not yet dry

Wet bedsheet 4/10/2018

I am using this dryer for the first time tonight. I had one bed sheet to dry and now two hours later .... it is still not dry.The dryer is hot ... the bedsheet is not dry. What is my recourse considering I paid a lot of money for a product that does not do what it supposed to do? So frustrated.

dryer doesn't dry

Bleph_11 4/7/2018

We have the stackable combo. They look great together - super compact and really pretty. Unfortunately, the dryer does not work... AT ALL. Bedding, towels, super small loads, anything takes anywhere from 2-6 hours and then will need to hang dry. Not recommended if you're looking for a dryer to actually dry your laundry. Such a bummer.

I am impressed.

Tim Miller 3/30/2018

We bought this because we are doing a complete remodel and this dryer will fit under the counter. I was, honestly, a bit concerned about the "ventless" technology and the longer drying time, but after using this dryer I am quite impressed. We ran the drain line to a drain line and do not have to remove or empty the tank. I would recommend this method for the convenience it adds. The clothes come out really dry and seem to be a bit "fluffier" than our old vented dryer. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a compact dryer.

Difficult to program

hegrda 3/27/2018

Have had this dryer for about 3 weeks & still have not figured out how to program it to get the best results. The instruction manual is not very informative or understandable. I find it impossible to dry bulky items satisfactorily. It seems to take a very long time to dry any type of load.

Dryer of Last Resort

Andrewsnc 3/26/2018

I purchased this unit originally in Feb, 2017, along with matching washer. Have owned the Whirlpool Hybridcare heat pump full sized dryer for over two years. It works great. This is NOT a smaller version of that unit. This unit malfunctioned in Feb 2018. ACS (Appliance Control Unit = BRAIN) unit failure. Part is unavailable and has been on backorder for months. Back in Feb, the available date was supposedly April. Kind of hard to go that length of time without a dryer. Fortunately Lowes stood behind it, and offered an exchange as they they had another unit in stock, but could not get the part. Debated between one and two stars. When working properly, and lint filters are properly cleaned, the unit will dry your clothes. It will take 2-3 hours. Keep in mind that this unit will not dry sheets or bedspreads. They will constantly ball up, even with tennis balls placed inside. There just isn't enough room in the drum for sheets to fall properly, and you will end up needing to put them on the line. Whirlpool should be more forthcoming about this units' shortfalls. Units are installed in a cabin in the mountains. I needed ventless, and a brand that wasn't so obscure like Blomberg or Asko, as finding a service person is difficult in that region.

Worst Dryer ever

no-whirlpool 3/13/2018

I never get this dryer works since I bought this Dryer. it takes too long to dry clothes but sill damp. All programs I have tried, none of them can do the job. Whirlpool suggest to use Timed Dry program. What do we need other programs then? Even I tried timed dry for hours but still damp. Normal load they have been drying for 3 hours and still damp. Probably 5 hours to dry the clothes? 4 cotton T-shirts took 2 hours but still damp.1 cotton T-shirt took half an hour and still very damp. Whirlpool said this is new technology and it takes long time to dry clothes. Advertising efficiency and Green but it takes long time to run the dryer which could be triple time comparing to traditional dryer. How could it be green? I just don't get it. Whirlpool keep saying it works as design and it takes long time to dry. They sent the technicians and ran diagnostic test to verify the dry works as designed which is to dry clothe very long time. They doesn't care if you need take 5 hours but still can not dry the clothes. They don't admit this is a failure new technology and failure design. Definitely sure this new technology is not good for me and the environment.

It is the right size for our laundry closet.

Char 15 3/5/2018

From my experience... it takes too long to dry clothes... I have a difficult time deciding which program to use to get the clothes dry... then ... they have been drying for 1 1/2 hours and still damp. I don't get it! I am in need to talk to someone about what I am doing wrong!

No more venting indoors!!!

UU7526 2/18/2018

Purchased this machine 1 month ago and so far could not be happier. Our old machine vented to the inside and created humidity, lint, and excessive heat in the summer. This machine obviates need for venting and works great. It dries effectively.

Meets our exact needs

N8894C 2/16/2018

We have had this dryer for a month now. It performs well using which use the extra dry setting. Loads come out completely dry. Time for the cycle is long, approaching 2 hours and the dryer is noisy which is what I expected seeing as it uses a heat pump that works on the same principle as an air conditioner. Also, even though run time is long, with the heat generated being recirculated, rather than vented, I expect energy usage to be no more and probably less than conventional vented dryers. Overall we are extremely satisfied so far.

First experience with. Ventless heat pump dryer

Sandypants 1/22/2018

I was very leery at first but was forced to purchase due to size constraints. I am very pleased now. It has some very nice features and dries the clothes better than I thought. It is a bit noisy at certain times while spinning but I'm getting used to it.

Glad I Ignored the Reviews

AKASparky 12/10/2017

I feel really bad for the folks who had problems with this dryer in the past. The ratings were very poor but this was the dryer that was half of the stackable pair I wanted. I am using this in a stationary RV so I needed the ventless feature. It is compact and energy efficient as well, both features I required. It is a bit of a learning curve, even for those who have had other ventless dryers. It does take significantly longer to dry your clothes, but uses a fraction of the electricity of a conventional dryer. This is not for everyone but fit my needs perfectly.

worst dryer ever

unhappy2017 11/17/2017

just purchased this dryer, This is the worst dryer I have ever owned. Completely worthless. We tried several options to get it to dry clothes. We put one pair of womens jeans in the dryer, put it on the highest dry settings available. It adjusted itself to 48 minutes. at the end of 48 minutes the jeans were still very damp. Not even close to dry. I am returning this dryer asap. I contacted Whirlpool customer service & they were no help at all.
