The Market at Bargain City

Helpful answers for vendors interested in renting space, selling merchandise, and participating in our indoor marketplace.

Please note: Marketplace policies, space availability, pricing, and services may change. Final approval, booth assignments, and vendor participation are subject to management review.

Application & Space Assignment

How do I apply?
Complete and submit the Vendor Market Application.
Is vendor space assigned first-come, first-served?
Applications are reviewed to create the best overall mix of products and vendors.
Can management reject an application?
Management may approve or decline applications based on marketplace needs.
How do I find out what spaces are available?
Review the latest space map or contact management.
Is the space map always current?
Availability can change as assignments are processed.
Can I reserve a space while I decide?
Reservations are not guaranteed until assignment and onboarding are complete.
Can I request a specific location?
Yes, preferences may be submitted.
How many space choices should I submit?
At least three choices are recommended.
What happens if my first choice is unavailable?
Management will review alternate choices.
Can I rent more than one space?
Yes.
Can I combine spaces?
Yes, adjacent spaces may be combined.
Can I move to another space later?
Possibly, subject to availability.
Can I share a booth with another vendor?
Management approval is required.
Can I sublease my booth?
No.
Is there a waiting list if the market is full?
Yes.
Do you limit similar vendors?
Management may limit categories for variety.
Can I see the space before deciding?
Yes.

Financial Terms

How much commission is charged?
5% commission on marketplace sales.
Who collects sales tax?
Bargain City collects and remits sales tax.
When do I get paid?
Vendor payouts are issued within 15 days after month-end for the previous month's sales.
How can I receive payment?
ACH, check, or approved electronic methods.
Do I need a W-9?
Yes.
Will I receive a 1099?
If required by IRS regulations.
Are returns allowed?
Generally, all sales are final unless approved.
Can I run promotions?
Yes, with management approval.

Contract Terms

Do I need a long-term contract?
No. Vendor space is month-to-month.
How do I cancel?
Provide 30 days written or email notice to vendors@bargaincitysuperstore.com.
Can optional services be canceled?
Yes, with 14 days notice.

Booth Operations

Do I need to staff my booth?
No. Vendors should keep their booth stocked, clean, and fresh.
Can I work in my booth?
Yes. Vendors may restock, merchandise, and work in their booth during normal store hours provided they do not interfere with customers or operations.
Can I access my booth anytime?
Access is available during normal store hours.
Who do customers pay?
All customer purchases are processed through Bargain City checkout.
Can I sell online too?
Yes.

Space Setup

Are shelves provided?
Wall spaces generally include up to three shelves. Cubes do not.
Can I bring my own shelving?
Yes.
Can my display extend into aisles?
No. Displays must remain inside the assigned space.

Walls & Modifications

Can I paint the walls?
No.
Can I nail or screw into walls?
Yes, with restrictions.
Can fasteners go through shared walls?
No.
Can I use adhesives?
Only removable products that do not cause damage.
What if I damage property?
The vendor may be charged for repairs.

Power & Services

Is electricity available?
Electricity is available in designated locations.
Do I pay power on each space?
Yes. Each space using power will incur the power fee.
Can power be guaranteed?
No. Power availability depends on location and marketplace setup.

Products & Merchandise

Who owns my inventory?
The vendor retains ownership until merchandise is sold.
Can I sell food?
Packaged food may be allowed with approval.
Can I cook on-site?
No.
Can I offer samples?
Samples may require approval.

Food Trucks & Events

Can I operate a food truck?
Food trucks may be allowed with approval, permits, and insurance.

Security & Liability

Are my products insured by Bargain City?
No. Vendors are responsible for insuring their own merchandise.
What happens if merchandise is stolen?
The vendor assumes risk for their merchandise.
Do I need liability insurance?
Certain vendors may be required to provide proof of liability insurance.
Can I lock merchandise in cases?
Yes.

Additional Marketplace Policies

Are CBD, hemp, THC, or cannabis products allowed?

No. At this time, the sale of CBD, hemp-derived products, THC products, cannabis products, and related consumable items is not permitted in The Market at Bargain City. This policy may be reviewed and updated in the future at management's discretion.

Can I sell tobacco, nicotine, vape, or alcohol products?

No. Tobacco, nicotine, vape products, alcohol, and other age-restricted products are not permitted unless specifically approved by management and allowed by law.

Can management require me to remove merchandise?

Yes. Bargain City reserves the right to require the removal of any merchandise that violates marketplace policies, applicable laws, safety standards, or is deemed inappropriate for the marketplace.

Prohibited Items

To maintain a safe, family-friendly marketplace, the following items are not permitted unless specifically approved by management and allowed by applicable law:

  • CBD, hemp-derived products, THC products, cannabis products, and related consumable items.
  • Tobacco, nicotine, vape products, e-cigarettes, and alcohol.
  • Illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia.
  • Counterfeit, stolen, or knowingly infringing merchandise.
  • Recalled or unsafe consumer products.
  • Fireworks, explosives, or hazardous materials.
  • Firearms, ammunition, and other regulated weapons unless specifically authorized by management and applicable law.
  • Live animals (except approved adoption or educational events).
  • Pornographic or sexually explicit materials.
  • Products promoting hate, discrimination, or illegal activity.
  • Any item prohibited by federal, state, or local law.

Bargain City reserves the right to refuse, remove, or require the immediate removal of any merchandise that violates these policies or is deemed unsafe, offensive, or inconsistent with the marketplace.
